Battle totem

First of all, you have to build a special item called ‘Battle Totem’. It can be crafted in Siege Engineer's workshop

Battle totem will be placed in your inventory and you can manipulate with it like a usual item, drop, barter and etc. Anyone can carry Battle totem, but only a Guild Leader can place it and initiate a battle. In order to do so, your guilds have to correspond to these rules

  • Guild monuments of both guilds are level 2 or higher. Incomplete monument level 2 also counted as a full value level 2 monument and will open possibility for Battles
  • War standing between guilds. Do not forget that war can be initiated by one side and ended by agreement from both enemies. Reference to standings article
  • No active Battle requests between selected guilds
  • Attackers can handle several pending battle requests but not more than attacker’s guild monument level
  • Same rule as above applies to defenders. They can’t handle more pending battle requests than their guild monument level
  • Attackers guild do not lose battles recently. 3 real day by default.

We have 2 guilds in a war state, Guild leader with battle totem in his/her inventory and he/she stands near enemy territory and all conditions to initiate a battle are passed.

Right-click on any tile inside enemy claim a choose ‘Declare the Battle’ option from Authority skill. Authority level has to be 10 or higher. Check the picture below. In some situations, you will see that lands visualization overlaps on neighbor cells, but this is not your enemy claim.

Walls will provide a decent level of protection from placing the Battle totem by blocking border tiles and preventing their selection but do not anticipate that this is a 100% defense.

Declare a battle takes some time and a player is vulnerable to attacks. Even a tiny damage or knockout will interrupt skill execution

In case of a successful skill accomplishment, a new object (Battle totem) will be placed in the center of a selected tile.

Battle totem is a standard unmovable object and can be damaged and destroyed. If such happens battle won’t be interrupted, but everyone will lose the possibility to enlist in a battle via totem.

Remember that Vassal guild are inherited all standing from their Lord’s guild and will also be vulnerable to Battles if their Lord in a war with another guild.

Assaulted guild will receive an additional pop-up message upon successful totem placement followed by a system chat communication

Enlisting in a battle

Battle totem placed and you will have 24 real hours (by default) till battle begins. Spend this time to assemble your squads of attackers/defenders. In order to exclude scenarios with planning a battle to a nighttime, each region will be configured with prime time hours. Battles will be assigned to start on the next day after Battle totem placement during these hours only. For example primary hours set from 19:00 till 22:00 based on a server’s local time

  • Battle requested on Monday at 19:30 → Battle will be scheduled on Tuesday at 19:30
  • Battle requested on Monday at 13:30 → Battle will be scheduled on Tuesday at 19:00
  • Battle requested on Monday at 23:30 → Battle will be scheduled on Tuesday at 22:00
  • Battle requested on Monday at 00:30 → Battle will be scheduled on Tuesday at 19:00

Countdown timer is available on thу Battle management screen and this is a real-time, not in-game hours

This window can be open either from Battle totem or from your Guild monument. Totem and monument can be located in any place of MMO map.

  • Battle Totem. Authority → Join the Battle 65260838.png
  • Guild Monument. Authority → Manage the Claim → Battles button37713817.png
  • Guild Monument.  Authority → Battles → Double click on appropriate battle from the list27504346.png

As you might notice Battles management window can be locked and will be available even if you move or perform common in-game tasks. A window will be closed only if you close it with the cross symbol in the top right corner. Battle management displayed equally for attackers and defenders, doesn’t matter you're in war or ally standings with any of participants.

It is not important if you are a member of attacker guild or defender one you can join any side of incoming battle by pressing Enlist button. Guild leader who places Battle totem is automatically added as the first approved member of attackers side. All new candidates will be placed in Pending frame.

Guild leader (Count role)  and Viscounts can make a decision upon each candidate.

Enlist into battle, approve candidates and wait for countdown timer hits zero value. Couple scenarios worth mentioning

  • One side ignores a challenge call. Battle will be auto-resolved and team with at least one approved participant will be considered as a Winner
  • One side is heavily outnumbered. Only approved participants are counted.  Auto balance mechanics will be initiated and players from ‘zerg’ side will be removed from the bottom of the approved list. Current values are still subject to discussion. Basic idea is that one side can’t outnumber another one more than  3 times. Here are couple example of possible scenarios

Joining the battle

Everything is set up and prepared for battle. The timer is about to hit 0:00:00 value. Next action from a server is to send invitations to enlisted, approved and balanced (if required) participants. A pop-up message will appear to you and each player will have a limited time (2 minutes by default) to make a decision either join the battle or skip it.

It might happen that for some reasons (offline, AFK, Ignore by purpose) you will skip that invitation dialog or miss its active phase. Default active time for a dialog message in MMO is 120 seconds. In such scenario, you won’t be able to accept an invitation and will be counted as deserters. We aware that this is a bottleneck and already working on additional mechanics to pick up a player during battle. This new function should also cover scenarios like

  • Crashing after accepting invitation
  • Dying during invitation being released
  • Crashing or losing network connection while joining the battle
